RE update

I was not thrilled with my RE in anyway as I left his office on the 4th. I feel like we are a small fish and that their bread and butter is really IVF. In their defense though, I was sick and not in the mood for bull crap; I wanted it straight.

So here is the news:

2250 mg of Metformin, up from 1500

Loss of weight is a plus

DH has issues so really IUI is in our best interest

IVF is probably our best option but my fat butt could keep it from being successful

Clomid works but my thinned lining is bad so we will switch to Femera after the first of the year and do a monitored IUI

Injectibles are the next step after that but it will make my fat butt fatter so maybe that is not the best idea… and it is expensive

My ovary pain is from my fat butt not controlling the PCOS so it too is getting fat

I should lose weight

oh, and 35 is not necessary the drop dead date for IF

And finally, I should lose weight

Now, any fat girl with PCOS knows that telling me to lose weight is like saying, “Run a marathon with no training.” I have tried. I have failed. I am tired of failing. And having every hyperthyroid symptom but no blood work that backs it up is not helping.

My next step it to beg, plead, cry, scream, bribe, whatever to get some sort of weight loss surgery. I swear I will even starve myself if it will get me pregnant. I just have one question, how on earth do all those women with a gaggle of kids who make me look small get pregnant?

Personally I'm a Femara fan, so I hope the switch works well for you. I had no s/e's and my insurance covered it because it is a breast cancer medication. I just failed to mention that I didn't have cancer.

I feel for you on the weight loss thing. You've got all these obstacles to begin with not to mention stress over not being able to get pregnant. I have a "real-life" friend with the same issue on IVF because her BMI is too high. It just sucks.

I totally hear you. How do all those fat people get pregnant. It is really unfair!

I know that it is really hard to lose weight with PCOS. Especially if you love food. I did have some success with weight watchers. I think their core plan works for a lot of people with PCOS, and you can do it online and do not have to go to meetings. I think meetings help, in general, though. (But I have never been, so it is really whatever works for you.)

Have you thought about seeing a regular endocrinologist (not an RE)? I see one and he really helps keep my PCOS under control. I just feel more comfortable seeing a regular endocrinologist because they understand the blood sugar issues that PCOS patients have. (Not to mention any thyroid problems which go along with it.) Honstly, I would recommend any woman with PCOS see a regular endocrinologist.

I'm glad to see you getting an IUI, I think there just comes a point where natural methods to pregnancy is just like shooting at a dead horse and it just becomes to painful to do the same thing and hope for a different result.
Hopefully you’ll get your BFP soon. I’m very hopeful for you.

I'm with Jen - totally a femara fan. Totally.

I'm wishing you all the luck. But I think the "lose weight" thing is a little unfair - you don't have to be skinny to getpregnant. They just have to figure out a way to coax those eggs out of you.

I really hope the Femara does the trick for you! Clomid thinned my lining horribly and created hostile CM but the Femara was wonderful. No moodiness like with Clo either.

As for weight loss, I feel your pain and would sometimes leave my doc's office crying after his lecture about my weight. I really felt like forking over thousands of dollars for surgery, or cutting off a limb were my only options for weight loss.

Anywho...my work paid for 20 people to do 20 weeks of Weight Watchers, and I was lucky enough to get picked. I had already lost about 15 on my own over a period of 6 months, but I wasn't able to lose even an ounce after that. Then I started WW and I lost 22 lbs in 20 weeks.

I know that's not setting a record for speedy weight loss or anything, but after trying every diet, excercise program, and flat out starving myself, I'm so thankful that something is finally working. I don't go to the meetings anymore; I'm just doing it online now. I haven't lost anymore weight but I'm still maintaining. I'm going to start doing meetings again soon as they really do help motivate you to stick to the plan and lose more weight.

Anyhow, I just wanted to share as I know how it feels to have PCOS and feel like being told to lose weight would be harder than learning to breathe under water.

Good luck!

Sorry I have been mia...but I am caught up and when I read this it was like I wrote it. I just had this conversation with a friend. They blame my weight partially for IF, and then I see these mothers that make me look like a pencil getting pregnant just looking at sperm...grrr. I am losing, and decided it is a priority for me now, I won't let something that I am told I can control keep me from being a mother. My last RE said that to me...hence why he isn't my RE anymore.

Praying that 2009 is our year hon!
