Why, Why, Why?!!

This information http://stirrup-queens.blogspot.com/2008/01/more-than-little-floored.html is on the Tyra Banks show and her exploitation of women going through IF and TTC issues.

If anyone has any email addresses for either the show producers or RESOLVE (they advertised it), please let me know. I think this is a serious enough issue that a stink needs to be made.

Thanks girls.

Edit: I got a hold of RESOLVE, now I just need her producers.

Tammy, go to my other blog www.yesilldrinktothat.blogspot.com

I posted some info there, although I'm not sure how up to date it is. I tried to correct information based on what I found on reputable sites. Hopefully between quite a few of us, we can show them how upset and outraged we really are.

Here's *my* thoughts, and I am ready to duck and cover on this if people need to throw things at me, since I am coming from a different view point....

I understand why everyone is upset over it. The show premise is not a good one. Along with sending flaming letters to the Tyra show, it seems like it would be more *productive* to be contacting other talk show hosts to see if they will do a show on the true IF. A show that focuses on that it is a disease that affects a ton of people ( 12.5% I think? don't know the exact statistic, and I'm too lazy to look it up right now) and not one that anyone should have to deal with, a show that has doctors (OB/GYNs, REs,whoever else) to talk about it from a medical standpoint, as well as people who have been dealing with IF. A show that would keep things real and in perspective.

IF does need to be addressed publicly IRL (the blog world isn't RL, there is a lack of knowledge from the general public about it, and that's the root of a lot of misunderstanding about IF. Once that knowledge is out there and people understand a bit more about IF then I think it would be easier for IFers and non-IFers to coexist. There's a major gap in communication, and the groups don't know what to say to each other-creating tension, and wrong things being said.

I think Dr. Ph.il would be the best show to do it. Op.rah would be even worse than Tyra I think. Better yet, Jerry S.pringer, for when fights break out between the IFers and non-IFers (ok, this one is a joke)

At least IF is being covered by a national tv show- it's a step in the right direction, EVEN if IF is being sensationalize.

On a somewhat ironic note...

Tyra is having Ricki Lake on to talk about her movie "The Business of Being Born" next week sometime. The movie is basically about Ricki's two birth experiences-the first in a hospital, the second at home, and the current state of the US maternity care system (how it's the 2nd worst in the developed countries yet the most expensive)

I just find it weird how Tyra would have Ricki on, yet act the way that she is about IF/adoption.
